The Texas re-opening continues today with more businesses coming back, and one Texas business owner is home from jail thanks to some legal maneuvering.
Nail salons, barber shops, and hair salons are among the businesses coming back today with limited capacity. One hair salon in Pearland actually opened at midnight.
The Dallas salon owner thrown in jail for opening up last month was freed by the Texas Supreme Court after the Governor, who met President Trump yesterday, eliminated jail time as a punishment for
opening. Luther told KTRH's Sean Hannity on Fox why she violated the order last month.
"I just woke up one day and I said I have to open. My stylists were calling me. They are not making their mortgage. I'm two months behind on my mortgage," Luther said. You can see the rest of the interview below.

- Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner says we are opening too quickly, Tweeting that we are treating the pandemic “as if it is over and not basing our decisions on scientific facts.”
- The city announced it will expand testing and add 300 more contact tracers. The $200 million to pay for this comes from money received by the CARES Act.
- Sportsplex of Houston wants a restraining order against the city after it claims it was wrongfully shut them down on May 1st at 25% capacity.
- A second Harris Co. Jail inmate who tested positive for COVID-19 died. That prisoner was between 25 and 35 years old.
- The Greater Houston area reported 8 deaths yesterday to bring the total to 302. The state reported 31 to bring the total in Texas to 985.
- Because of the crowds last week, Galveston officials are closing eight beach access points last week. They are:

- 16 Mile Road
- Bay Harbor
- Miramar
- Stavanger
- Salt Cedar
