Harris County isn't the only place with a face mask order in place. More than 50 countries around the world now have some type of law requiring its citizens to wear a covering in public.
Wearing a face mask is becoming more commonplace, and it's not likely to change any time soon.
As countries begin to lift stay-at-home orders, they're requiring citizens to cover their faces, especially on public transport and in shops. More than 50 countries now have a face mask law, and several others are soon to follow in the next two weeks. Doctor Hana El Sahly at Baylor College of Medicine says she expects to see masks wherever people may travel.
“When the viral transmission is active at this level, and when we don’t have a vaccine or immunity within against it, [guidelines advising you wear a face mask] is something to follow during travels,” El Sahly said.
El Sahly says she doesn't anticipate people putting away their masks entirely until a vaccine or an immunity of some type is widely available.
