Texans working from home may be more vulnerable to cyber attacks than they might think. A new study ranks the Lone Star State low when it comes to protecting ourselves and our data.
Out of all 50 states, a WalletHub survey lists Texas as 40th in Cybersecurity. An eye-opening reminder when you're working from home, business and personal data could be subject to hacks.
“When it comes to businesses, they have really taken care of Cybersecurity on that front. However, when you look at consumers and individuals, that has not really been relayed yet,” WalletHub Analyst Jill Gonzalez said. “So as more and more people are working from home, that’s when we see that date breach.”
Cybersecurity experts say common problems among employees working from home include weak passwords, shared computers, and lack of secured Wi-Fi.
Gonzalez says the good news for Texans: our state ranks number 2 on cheapest internet, thanks to healthy competition. The Lone Star State also ranks high in terms of average home square footage and home living conditions.
