The COVID-19 outbreak has impacted our entire way of life, and it has already affected the 2020 election.
The Texas runoffs that had been set for May are now being pushed back until July 14th. And voters that want to take part, but don't want to put themselves at risk of being infected by the coronavirus have another option. Fort Bend County Elections Administration John Oldham says they can vote by mail, especially voters over the age of 65, who are more susceptible to the virus.
“Because persons in this age group are most susceptible to infection by the Coronavirus, I would encourage them to vote by mail rather than vote in person during the Early Voting periods or on Election Day”, Oldham said.
If you submitted an application for ballot by mail for the March 3, Primary Election, you should automatically receive a ballot for the July and November elections. However, eligible persons who have not applied may still do so.The deadline to submit an application to receive a ballot for the July 14 Election is July 2, 2020. Applications must be received by the Elections Office by that date.
