Remember when air travel was fun?

Since 9/11 it almost seems like the government and the airlines are trying to make air travel as unpleasant as possible. There's the TSA groping, taking your shoes off, restrictions on liquids, and long security lines. Now there's the coronavirus panic and some say the process of planning a flight is more stressful than going to the dentist!

Melanie Lieberman is senior travel editor at The Points Guy. She says coronavirus fears aren't helping.

"Travelers are hesitant to get stranded; they're worried about getting stuck somewhere or that their plans might be upended regardless of what they do."

Lieberman says one of the biggest worries is a layover.

"63% said they'd be willing to pay more to avoid a layover or get a direct flight."

Lieberman says a majority of Americans find planning a flight more stressful than going to work.

"If delays and cancellations really stress you out go for that first flight in the morning even if you have to get up a little earlier because it's much less likely to get cancelled or delayed."

Lieberman says 44% say they find the overall process of air travel more stressful than going to the dentist.
