The Better Business Bureau says to video tape and document any damage done to your property.
Get in touch with your insurance agent and give them a heads up that you sustained damage.
As you begin recovering, be sure to save receipts for anything that you have to buy relating to the damage, from trash bags to new windows to a new door.
Watch out for scammers. Only use reputable contractors for repairs. Lawyers can only contact someone who has contacted them first, so beware off phone calls offering legal assistance.
