A section of privately-funded border wall in Mission will be completed soon

The private-funded border wall building group "We Build the Wall" is nearing completion of a 3.5 mile section of privately-funded wall in Mission along the Rio Grande.

With limited funds and property, the group has built four miles of new wall in its first year.

America's Sheriff David Clarke said he was blown away by how much Americans have raised in such a short time frame.

"This type of project would take the federal government two and a half years and cost about $40 million. Look at the time we've done it in and look at the cost," said Clarke.

He said people can be deported, but if the border isn't secure, they're coming right back in.

"Never underestimate the will and determination of the American people to step up in a time of crisis. This border issue is at a crisis level," said Clarke.

We Build the Wall group claims this section will prevent countless crossers who used to use the Rio Grande River as a way to easily make it into America.

This section is the second wall built using private funds.
