There's a change you might notice soon if you're filling up at a gas station in Texas.
The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation will now be the department in charge when there are complaints about things like pricing. Chairman Rick Figueroa tells KTRH they will also have the power to investigate when they get complaints about credit card skimmers.
"Any kind of crime that can occur we are going to keep our eye on," Figueroa said. "We want to make sure our inspectors are fully aware of the changes and dynamics associated with this technology. It's ever evolving."
The TDLR gets this expanded power after the legislature passed a new law last year. The Texas Department of Agriculture used to have the authority over gas pumps.
