A trip to the International Space Station could mark a big step toward launching astronauts from the U.S.into space again.
United Launch Alliance's Atlas V rocket blasted off a little after 5:30 this morning from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station. The rocket is carrying a Boeing Starliner spacecraft that will bring supplies to the International Space Station.
The spacecraft is unmanned but there is a dummy on board to study the effects of the trip on humans. If all goes well, NASA could launch U.S. astronauts from American soil as soon as next summer. The last time that happened was 2011.
