Texas’ neighbor to the east had a runoff election Saturday.
Governor John Bel Edwards will serve another term after Saturday's election in Louisiana.
He becomes the first Democratic governor to win re-election in the state since the 1970s.
Edwards received more than 51 percent of the vote to defeat Republican challenger Eddie Rispone.
The victory is considered by some to be a blow to President Trump who visited the state three times in recent weeks to support the Republican candidate.
