It's National Sandwich Day and some fast food chains are offering deals to celebrate.
The long awaited return of Popeye's Chicken Sandwich happens today after the company sold out of the sandwich within two weeks of when it was first launched back in August.
Among other brands offering deals are Firehouse, Jimmy John's and Subway with specials on sub sandwiches today as well as Jack in the Box locations with specials on the Jumbo Jack burger. Yeah, it's Texas. Chicken is good and all, but we like beef.
Legend has it that the sandwich is named for 18th Century English nobleman John Montagu, 4th Earl of Sandwich, who had his servant prepare for him a sandwich-like meal so as to not interrupt his play at the gambling table.
