Being Comfortable in Retirement

Most people look forward to their retirement as a time of comfort and relaxation, away from the stresses of a work life. They don’t think in terms of being unemployed for decades.

And that social security check is kind of like getting an unemployment check. It'll help you get by in the short term, but financial adviser Michael Smith of STA Wealth Management says you won't be comfortable.

“The first thing I would advise is get a financial planner. Create a financial plan and a savings plan and begin as soon as possible,” he suggests.

One in five Americans has less than $5,000 in savings for retirement.

That's not going to be comfortable.
