Texans to host Jaguars in home opener this afternoon

The Houston Texans have had a short week to get ready for it, but they host the Jacksonville Jaguars this afternoon in the home opener at NRG Stadium.

Bill O'Brien's team has had a shorter than normal time to prepare for the game, with the team visiting New Orleans and losing in heartbreaking fashion this past Monday night. Still, this is the NFL and O'Brien knows no one feels sorry for his team.

"We got a big game at home and we want to play well in front of the home fans," O'Brien said. "It's a very difficult challenge for us, and we will just go out there play. It's time for us to play well at home."

The Texans lost on a last second field goal in New Orleans six days ago. Their defense faltered in the second half, allowing the Saints to get back into a game the Texans seemingly had control of. Defensive end J.J. Watt was held without a tackle, and says he's already put Monday night behind him.

"That's all you want to do after a game like that is get back on the field. All you want to to is go out there and put that memory behind you," Watt stated.

The Jaguars are 0-1 as well. Not only did they lose their opener last Sunday to Kansas City. They lost quarterback Nick Foles, who they signed as a free agent during the off-season, to a fractured clavicle. Gardner Minshew replaces him.

Today's game starts at Noon.
