The Atascocita Fire Department mourns the loss of one of their own.
Lt. Jared Snell died in a fiery collision last night in Liberty County on Highway 105 when his vehicle collided with a refrigerated 18-wheeler.
The truck was carrying a load of canisters of highly-concentrated apple juice. The roadway has been closed as Hazmat crews clean up the potentially flammable product.
Snell was pronounced dead on the scene. The truck driver was able to get out of the cab of his truck before it burst into flames.
The Atascocita Fire Department posted this message on their Facebook page:
"Our hearts are broken, and our thoughts and prayers are with Jared Snell's family. Details regarding funeral arrangements for Jared will be provided as they become available."
