A Pearland elementary school getting ready for kids to come back from summer vacation had a fire break out early this morning.
It took place at Challenger Elementary School. The Pearland Fire Department says it all started with an automatic alarm call.
When firefighters got there they found the building filled with smoke. It appears as if the fire was in the attic and may be related to work that was being done on the roof.
The school's kindergarten orientation is tonight and the first day of school for Pearland ISD students is a week from today. It's not clearif the fire will affect the first day of school.
No injuries were reported.
