A would-be armed robber is in critical condition after he was shot while trying to hold up a north Harris County fireworks stand on the 4th of July.
Harris County deputies says the shooting happened about 5:30 p.m. on the North Freeway near Airtex Drive.
An employee of the fireworks stand took the 19-year-old suspect's gun away when he put it down on the counter to pick up some of the money he was trying to steal.
The employee shot the robber in the face, and the suspect was taken to the hospital.
