HPD officer Jasmine Selle was shot twice in the arm by a suspect Friday night in Southwest Houston at around midnight.
An officer had attempted a traffic stop near the Southwest Freeway and Beltway that resulted in a police chase.
On Forum Park Drive near Sugar Branch Drive the suspect got out of his car armed with a pistol and started shooting.
The HPD officer took two bullets to the arm and went down but was able to return fire with two other officers and fatally shot the suspect.
HPD Police Chief Art Acevedo said, “This illustrates the dangers officers face.”
Selle was treated and released from the hospital and will be on administrative leave pending the outcome a routine investigation.
The shooting was caught on the body cameras of several officers.
