The search is continuing in Galveston Bay in the water near the Texas City Dike for missing Kemah Police Chief Chris Reed.
The chief was boating with his wife Friday afternoon when the wake from a passing boat sent him overboard without a life vest.
The Coast Guard led other agencies in a search Friday afternoon and evening but had to wait for Saturday’s sunrise to resume their investigation.
Chief Reed is on the Clear Creek ISD board, and is a former manager for League City and Nassau bay. He’s a retired Army paratrooper.
Texas City Police Chief Joe Stanton says, “Number one, he’s just a great cop, just to start off with. He’s been in this county for a long time, working for several difference agencies. He was a bug part of Keman and everything they were accomplishing.”
The Texas City Dike is a 5-mile pier stretching into Galveston Bay.
