UPDATE: Law enforcement in Hardin County say the man they were looking for in this case is now in custody.
ORIGINAL: The manhunt continues for a man suspected of severely beating a Sour Lake Police officer last night in the city west of Beaumont.
The suspect stole a Sour Lake Police car and left the scene according to Sour Lake Police Chief Aaron Burleson.
Texas DPS says the incident happened at about 8:30 p.m.last night.
The officer, who has not been identified, suffered a traumatic head injury and also sustained severe facial injuries. The officer is in serious condition in ICU.
