J.J. Watt Delivers Commencement Address

The Houston Texan's number 99, Justin James Watt, never graduated from college. Watts left a scholarship at Central Michigan University to become a walk-on a the University of Wisconsin, his home state. He skipped his senior season and was drafted by the Houston Texans in 2011. Last year Watt was awarded an honorary doctorate from Baylor College of Medicine. He was invited to deliver the commencement address to UW graduates on Saturday.

Watt didn't write down his speech, didn't read one and didn't use a teleprompter. He had joked before his speech that, "Just because I didn't write a speech down does not mean that I didn't prepare."

If there is one thing J.J. Watt does, it's prepare. But he said students aren't interested in hearing a long speech so he kept his brief and to the point, encouraging students to reach their potential.

"Tomorrow when you wake up, probably around like 2 pm, you're going to begin a journey toward new dreams. You're going to have new goals. You're going to have new things you want to accomplish. As you go along that journey toward your new dreams, remember to help a few people out along the way. Remember to try to change the world for the better as you go."
