New information on the man who was shot and killed in his southwest Houston apartment while taking a shower.
Houston Police say 23-year old Edwin Figueroa confessed to the cocaine-fueled shooting death of 22-year old Rafael Nunez, after learning his wife was having an affair with the victim.It is believed the two men worked in roofing and Figueroa was Nunez’ boss.
Investigators say Figueroa also admitted to beating Nunez days earlier, when he first learned of the affair.On Wednesday, the suspect said he drank beer and snorted cocaine before buying a gun and heading to Nunez’ apartment off South Drive and Wilcrest. He says he broke down the door and opened fire while the victim was in the shower.
Police say Nunez managed to escape his apartment and call for help.He reportedly told paramedics his boss had shot him.He died during surgery at Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital.
Figueroa was caught a short time later.He’s charged with first-degree felony murder and is being held on $100,000 bond.
