(Galveston, TX) -- A dredging project scheduled for later this year will lengthen a stretch of Babe's Beach in Galveston. City officials say they plan to award a contract for the job in April or May, and work will start 60 days later.
The 14-million-dollar project will extend Babe's Beach between 61st Street and 83rd Street, but exactly how far isn't known yet. Babe's Beach was originally built in 2015. It placed a beach along the seawall west of 61st Street for the first time since Hurricane Carla in 1961.
