State Senator Proposes Statewide Flood Plan Bill

(Austin, TX)  --  A state senator is proposing the first-ever flood plan for Texas.  Senator Charles Perry, a Republican from Lubbock, filed legislation on Tuesday to create the plan by late 2024.

The multi-bill legislation would create a list of flood mitigation projects, from reservoirs to enhanced building codes.

It would enable communities in the same watersheds to work together on flood control projects instead of at cross-purposes.  The Texas Water Development Board would implement and oversee the proposed plan, if it's passed into law.
