Texas Supreme Court to Hear Case Over ID of Execution Drug Supplier

The Texas Supreme Court will hear oral arguments Wednesday over the disclosure of execution drug suppliers.

Several death penalty attorneys sued the state in 2014 to get the name of lethal injection drug suppliers to ensure its quality.

“The state will be arguing there is no need to release any further information prior to the 2015 law change which made it illegal to reveal any elements of the execution procedure,” says Jeremy Desel, spokesperson for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.

Meanwhile, executions continue in the Lone Star State.

“There are currently six executions that various courts around the state have scheduled and we're ready to perform,” says Desel.

That includes John King, convicted in the James Byrd Jr. dragging death in 1998.
