(Houston, TX) -- Governor Greg Abbott is unimpressed with the leadership of the Houston ISD. In a tweet on Thursday, the governor described the district's board in terms such as "a joke" and "a disaster," and refers to "self-centered ineptitude."
Abbott said the school board needs to be taken over and run by the state, because the students and their parents deserve better. HISD Board President Rhonda Skillern-Jones described Abbott's tweet as "shocking," and said Abbott should come to Houston and see what's really going on.
