The Houston Texans locked down the AFC South Division championship with an easy 20 to 3 win over the Jaguars at NRG Stadium yesterday afternoon.
Once again, it was Deshaun Watson and a tough Texans Defense leading the way. Watson threw for 234 yards and ran for one touchdown. Lamar Miller ran for Houston’s other score.
With the win the Texans closed the regular season with an 11-5 record, which seemed nearly impossible after the season started so badly in September with three straight losses.
“These guys have worked hard, especially with the way we started out,” Coach Bill O’Brien said. “It’s a testament to those guys in the locker room. They’ve always hung tough. Give credit to the players.
The Texans will be at home, at least to start the playoffs. They finished as the AFC’s third seed, so they did not earn a first round bye. But they did get that home game at NRG Stadium against a rival, the Indianapolis Colts.
This will be the third time these two teams have met this season. The Texans won the first head-to-head matchup. Indianapolis won the second.
Kickoff on Saturday at NRG is set for 3:35pm.
