Texans Lose Heartbreaker in Philadelphia

The Houston Texans are still one win short of a division title after losing 32-30 to the Eagles on a last-second field goal.  The Texans came back from a 13-point fourth quarter deficit to take a 30-29 lead with just over two minutes left in the game.  The Eagles’ final drive was aided by a costly penalty, leading to Jake Elliott’s game-winning 35-yard field goal.

Quarterback Deshaun Watson had another good day, throwing for 339-yards and two touchdowns, but he was also sacked four times.  He also led the team in rushing with 49 yards and two TD’s.  The Texans had trouble establishing a ground game in the absence of the injured  Lamar Miller.

The Texans defense had trouble containing Philadelphia quarterback Nick Foles, who threw for a team record 471 yards and four touchdowns.  Jadeveon Clowney recorded the team’s only sack.

The Texans may have suffered an even bigger loss on the field.  Wide receiver Demaryius Thomas was carted off in the second half with what is believed to be a torn Achilles.

The Texans hold the third seed in the AFC playoffs.  They will secure the AFC South next week with a win over the Jacksonville Jaguars at NRG Stadium.
