Houston’s Christmas Events

Houston has more holiday events per capita than any other city in America.

And boy, do we have events this week!  Among your choices:

Friday through Sunday at Jones Hall the Houston Symphony Orchestra performs Handel’s Messiah, with British conductor and Handel expert Jane Glover handling the baton.  Performances are at 8 Friday and Saturday nights, and at 2:30 on Sunday.

Ebenezer Scrooge and his ghostly, ghastly friends continues through December 30th at Alley Theater.

There are lights everywhere, including Zoo Lights and Sugar Land Holiday Lights at Constellation Field and Magical Winter Lights at Gulf Greyhound Park and the Festival of Lights at Moody Gardens.

You can skate on the ice at Discovery Green.

Friday night St. Arnold’s Naughty List Tap Takeover at Conservatory is from 11 to 11:50, and the Trans-Siberian Orchestra performs at Toyota Center for two shows at 3:30 and 8.  The 11th Annual Galveston Holiday Lighting Celebration at Hotel Galvez is from 6 to 7:30.

The Houston Ballet presents The Nutcracker at Wortham Theater through December 29th, and the Smart Financial Center in Sugar Land is bringing back the Moscow Ballet’s version on December 29th, as well as featuring Manheim Steamroller on December 30th.

Sunday at the Grand 1894 Opera House in Galveston they are bringing back A Charlie Brown Christmas Live on Stage at 1 and 4.
