The system that brought flooding to Houston Friday night is blanketing Charlotte, North Carolina in snow today and the impact is rippling through the nation’s airports.
American Airlines announced Saturday night that 1,100 flights are being cancelled Sunday due to the storm. Most of those are in and out of Charlotte, but once the problems begin a domino effect of connector flights can also experience delays. American Airlines cancelled 225 flights on Saturday. 300 flights on Monday have already been cancelled.
Slowing down things at Hobby, Southwest Airlines has also had to cancel some of Sunday’s flights.
Airlines are offering travel vouchers for affected passengers, letting them change flights without charge. Ticket costs will be refunded for those whose flights are cancelled and the ticket not used.
