The Houston Texans put their seven game winning streak on the line when they host the Titans on ESPN’s Monday Night Football at NRG Stadium.
This will be the second head-to-head matchup between these two teams in 2018. The first one came in September when the Titans beat Houston in Nashville 20 to 17. Even though the Texans are streaking, Coach Bill O’Brien knows a divisional matchup is a tossup.
“This league is a very tough league. The titans are a very good team,” O’Brien said.
And even though the Texans have won seven straight O’Brien isn’t letting that cloud his judgment about his team, which he knows still has room to improve.
“We haven’t done anything. We haven’t done a thing. We have done a nice job of digging ourselves out of a hole,” O’Brien stated.
This will be the third primetime game for the Texans this year. They are 13-23 in those games all-time, having won their first two games this season under the lights. Greg Koch, the former Green Bay Packer who is on our sister station, Sports Talk 790, expects recent trends to keep going.
“It should continue. Tennessee looked absolutely horrible last week against Indianapolis,” he said.
The NFL now plays games on Thursday nights and Sunday nights. So is Monday Night Football as special as it once was?
“Monday Night is still the top game,” Koch said emphatically.
The team will wear special decals on their helmets to honor Bob McNair. The only owner the Texans have ever known passed away on Friday.
Kickoff is set for 7:15.
