A study claims that Millennials are waiting much longer to tie the knot than past generations.
According to new research, divorce is down by 18 percent between 2008 and 2016, and Millennials are the ones to thank.
Instead, Millennials are prioritizing their careers, finances and personal goals before getting romantically involved—leading to healthier relationships.
Dynamic Counseling clinical director Caroline Crocker said that younger generations are better at listening to one another.
“There’s been kind of this shift in the dynamic of gender roles,” she said, “and I think sometimes now we’re seeing a little more of a partnership. There’s more of a communication about what we need from one another and people being more aware of what their own needs are in a relationship and making more of an effort to meet the needs of their partner.”
Crocker said even before marriage, more younger couples go to marriage counseling to work out differences.
