Horrifying new details emerge in the presumed death of a two-year old College Station girl.
A body was discovered in Texas City Wednesday. An autopsy to confirm the victim’s identity could take weeks, but authorities believe they found Hazana Anderson.
The child’s 21-year old mother Tiaundra Christon claimed her daughter disappeared last Sunday from Gabbard Park in College Station – 140-miles away. Christon told authorities she left the child alone while she went to get the girl’s bottle, and when she returned Hazana was gone.
Christon was arrested on charges of child endangerment and false reporting to police.
Shortly after the body was found, Christon’s boyfriend Kenny D'Shawn Hewett was arrested in Galveston County for a charge of tampering with or fabricating physical evidence with intent to impair a human corpse, according to jail records.
Court records allege the two-year old was beaten to death for crying. Both took turns hitting with the child with a belt as she passed in and out of consciousness. They eventually realized the girl was dead and tried warming the body with a hair dryer, only to burn her skin.
Christon told police she drove around with her daughter’s body in a trash bag for three days. The couple disposed of the corpse on October 23 – weighting the bag with a rope and a rock before throwing it into a bayou in Texas City. Hazana wasn’t reported missing until October 28. Hewett led detectives to the location of the body, and confirmed Christon’s account of the child’s death.
Christon is being held in the Brazos County jail on $750,000 bond. Hewett is in the Galveston County Jail on $500,000 bond.
