HOUSTON - A press conference with congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, HSCO Sheriff Ed Gonzalez and HPD Chief Art Acevedo was held Wednesday afternoon in the wake of Federal authorities investigating suspicious packages addressed to the homes of Bill and Hillary Clinton in New York and the Obamas' home in Washington, D.C. CNN headquarters in New York needed to be evacuated due to the delivery of a suspicious package.
“We settle our differences at the ballot box ... without violence” said Lee standing with Sheriff Gonzalez and Chief Acevedo.
Acevedo added that just because there’s no credible threat in the Houston area, it does not mean that we shouldn’t be vigilant. He's urging everyone to be on the lookout for suspicious packages delivered to homes, offices, or anywhere else. Remember, "See something, Say something!"
Meanwhile, President Trump is calling for unity and said he will hunt down whomever is responsible for mailing explosive devices to top Democrats. Explosive devices were also sent to former Attorney General Eric Holder, Congresswoman Maxine Waters and former CIA Director John Brennan. One was sent earlier to liberal activist George Soros.
New York Mayor Bill de Blasio is calling the explosive device mailed to CNN's headquarters in New York an act of terror. The building was evacuated as the package was neutralized. New York Governor Andrew Cuomo said New Yorkers will not be intimidated by this cowardly act, and the state is deploying 100 additional National Guard soldiers in response. They will be asked to protect airports, bridges and tunnels across the state.
