Officials are asking for help from the public to find a man accused of pretending to be a doctor and abusing children.
Lee Smith III is wanted by police on charges of indecency with a child and sexual assault of a child.
Smith is alleged to have raped a 15-year-old girl in his apartment and then fondled an 8-year-old boy the same day in August of 2017.
“Don’t be scared. Don’t be afraid. Don’t be ashamed. Just come forward. The sooner we get him off the street the sooner we save other people’s children,” the mother of Smith’s alleged victims said earlier this morning.
Neighbors say Smith was often wearing wore hospital scrubs and a lab coat, and tried to pass himself off as a pediatrician from time to time.
Smith is 6 feet, 6 inches tall and weighs 210 pounds. Police say the top of his head is deformed in a way that might give the illusion that he’s wearing his hair in braids, police said.
