(Houston, TX) -- Harris County health officials are confirming the state's first death from West Nile virus this year. Harris County Public Health announced Thursday that a middle-aged man died earlier this month at a hospital in the county.
The name of the man, who lived in southwest Harris County, has not been released. He reportedly had chronic health problems as well.
Six Harris County residents have contracted West Nile this year, and more than 300 mosquitoes have tested positive.
