Galveston County officials are asking the state to change the way federal money is allocated for post-Harvey housing assistance.
The mayors of Friendswood and League City joined Galveston County Judge Mark Henry in an appeal to the Texas General Land Office, which disperses federal housing money to Harvey victims. They say the system is based too closely on the percentage of local low-to-moderate income housing.
The judge says the system misses uninsured people who aren't low-income but still have repairs they can't afford.
