The suspected killers of 15-year-old Bryan Escalante appeared in court this morning where they were formally charged with capital murder.
Jashon Freeman, 18, Jacorey Randolph, 19, and Albert Edmond, 18, are accused of killing Escalante Wednesday evening in the parking lot of the Innsbruck Lemoyne Apartments in the 4600 block of Sherwood Lane.
According to court filings, Edmond shot Escalante multiple times as the boy walked away from an altercation. The suspects reportedly took Escalante's wallet and phone.
Later Wednesday, Spring Valley police stopped the suspects' car for a traffic violation and arrested the trio after finding marijuana, Xanax pills, spent shell casings and bloody clothing in the vehicle. The suspects were also in possession of five cell phones, one of which matched the description of Escalante's phone.
Escalante's friends and family will hold a barbecue fundraiser today at 4601 Sherwood near building seven, selling plates for $10 to help cover funeral expenses.
