The Food and Drug Administration issues a voluntary recall on thyroid medications produced by Westminster Pharmaceuticals. According to the agency's website, Levothyroxine and Liothyronine may contain ingredients involved in an FDA import alert, so there is a "risk of adulteration."
The medications are sold in 15, 30, 60, 90 and 120-milligram wholesale lots.
The company says it has received no reports of "adverse effects" related to the medications.
According to the FDA, "Because these products may be used in the treatment of serious medical conditions, patients taking the recalled medicines should continue taking their medicine until they have a replacement product."
