WalletHub doesn’t think much of Texans’ patriotism

Sometimes lists are good. Sometimes they are ridiculous, like a new list from WalletHub ranking the most patriotic states in the country; a list that doesn’t have Texas in the top twenty.

WalletHub, has the Lone Star State ranked, get this, 31st. Bryan Preston with the Texas General Land Office tells KTRH that makes no sense because of a lot of factors including an extremely important one.

“We have The Alamo in this state. It’s the foundation of the military state. You mean to tell me there’s any other state that has anything like The Alamo? I don’t think so,” Preston said.

And then there are stories like the Great Flag Caper in Irving, founded 25 years ago by Nell Anne Hunt, and it has grown to the point that 40 thousand American flags will line the streets there.

“I moved into my neighborhood, and everyone was so nice that I decided to put American flags in their yards for the Fourth of July. Everyone loved it,” Hunt explained.

According to WalletHub the top five most patriotic states are: Virginia, Alaska, Wyoming, South Carolina and Idaho.
