Almost 42 million Americans will start their summer by traveling for Memorial Day weekend.
The holiday unofficially marks the start of summer for many, and Triple-A says they anticipate a five percent increase in people traveling for the extended weekend. The number of people anticipated to journey to different places is expected to be the highest number in over a dozen years. Major roadways could see delays up to three times longer than normal.
The increased travel comes even as gas prices continue to skyrocket.
Meanwhile here in Houston, The Houston National Cemetery had a ceremony to mark the observance of Memorial Day. The ceremony was organized by the National Cemetery Administration.
