Zillow found that steam showers bring in the biggest bucks, followed by outdoor kitchens and pizza oven. Homes with steam rooms sold for 29% above their expected value, as well as heated floors and free-standing tubs.
Heritage Texas Properties realtor Lily Jang said lifestyle additions are in competition across the Houston area. One client in Porter had a doozy of a man cave.
“He had a pole in the garage that was turned into a man cave, strobe lights, walk up bar, right next to this $100,000 pool,” said Jang.
However, the return on investment on something like that, won’t compare to what was spent.
She said because of our good weather nearly year-round, people are looking for good outdoor living space.
“They want that outdoor kitchen, they want a pergola, they want the outdoor deck, a space they can call their own outside of an air conditioned home,” said Jang.
She said you will get a return on investment with lifestyle additions that allow you to entertain outdoors.
