Jolt of Reality: Expert Warns EVs Not Clean or Safe

The Biden administration continues to push electric vehicles as the clean, green wave of the future. But experts warn EVs are not clean, green, or safe, and are even a threat to our security. Former CIA officer Bryan Dean Wright makes the case in a new report on Fox News Digital, where he argues EVs are "a national security threat meant to weaken us and ultimately destroy us."

Wright's first argument is that EVs are anything but clean. He notes that the minerals used to make EV batteries, like lithium, nickel, and cobalt, are mined overseas in areas with limited water supply and sometimes using child labor. He adds that the mining process uses coal power and chemical extraction, which are anything but clean. "We've got all kinds of problems just extracting this stuff out of the ground, from child labor to environmental damage," says Wright.

Electric vehicles also do environmental damage after production. A recent report found EVs actually release more toxic emissions than gas-powered vehicles. "So as we're sitting in the dealership, a lot of folks don't know that they're actually looking at a horrifically dirty vehicle," continues Wright.

Beyond the environmental concerns, Wright warns the biggest threat from EVs might be in national security. "(Once minerals are extracted), then we have to refine it, so that gets sent to China, where about 80-percent of all this stuff is refined," he says.

"I care about national security," continues Wright. "And this is one of those vectors where Beijing is using (EVs) to try to weaken us and ultimately destroy us."

"This is not just about the environment, it's about national security," he says. "And if we allow China to dominate this industry as we have...this is not going to just be a problem about climate change, this is going to be an economic disaster."
