Anti-Israel Protests Hit Houston

The violent anti-Israel mobs are not only hitting Ivy League schools on the east coast. There are anti-Israel protests happening here in Houston this week at both UH, and Rice University.

"It's a shame that these kinds of protests and activity, overshadow the incredible community that exists among Jewish students locally" said Rabbi Kenny Weiss, with Houston Hillel.

The Rice University anti-Israel protest is scheduled for today, even though classes ended last week. But the UH gathering began last night, with some disturbing details.

"Last night, the University of Houston student government association debated a resolution condemning Israel, an antisemitic resolution on the evening of the holiday of Passover, when none of the Jewish students would be able to speak out against the antisemitic resolution" Rabbi Weiss told KTRH, "That type of behavior is just unconscionable, and inexcusable."
But apparently acceptable on college campuses all across the country.

"There is a time, place, and manner for protests on college campuses" noted Weiss, "But this is neither the time, the place, nor the manner in which to have these types of protests."
A spokesperson said the Rice University gathering today and tomorrow is "Pro-Palestine".

The UH anti-Israel protest continues all week. By the way, it's worth noting that last year, a UH student was arrested and suspended for 3 semesters, for making an antisemitic threat.
