How Will the Political Split Effect the 2024 Election?

Americans are split almost evenly between the Democratic and Republican parties, so how will the 2024 election be decided, and who has the advantage? One thing is clear: It will be up to the independents to push either Trump or Biden over the edge.

Political strategist Brendan Steinhauser says the most important voters in the national election will be those in swing states and counties. Because those swing voters tend to vote based on the economy, that gives Trump an advantage.

Steinhauser says, "Based on the economic data we have in front of us, and the way that people feel about the state of the country, I think you have to say that Donald Trump has a very good chance at defeating Joe Biden in November."

Steinhauser did say that the chances of a "red wave" are small this year. He noted that those critical independent voters are unlikely to vote straight ticket, meaning we could very well have a split Congress in 2025.
