Yesterday saw several updates in Manhattan D.A. Alvin Bragg's case against former President Donald Trump. Early in the day Trump asked Judge Juan Marchan to hold Trump in contempt of court due to some social media posts, and also asked the judge to threaten Trump with jail time if he continued to make the posts.

7 of the 12 total jurors where sworn in as well. They now have to seat the remaining 5 jurors, as well as swear in alternate jurors. Judge Merchan has said he expects jury selection to be complete by the end of the week, and we should expect opening statements on Monday.

Trumps legal spokeswoman Alina Habba told Fox News yesterday that she doesn't think there is any way Trump can get a fair trial. She said, "Remember, just because it's a jury doesn't mean the judge can't sway them to go one way or the other."

There will be no trial today, and everything is expected to pick back up on Thursday, 04/18/2024, at 9:30am eastern time.
