Hot as a Firecracker now! Just a week ahead of July 4th!

July 4th is just a little over a week away. Yesterday (6-24-2023) was the first day of fireworks sales in the state. Texas has some strict rules about them and not going along with them could result in a serious fine for every individual firework. They can range anywhere from $500 to $2,000!!!

  • If you live within the Houston city limits, it's illegal to set off any fireworks anywhere!
Transporting them has restrictions as well. They are summed up in Texas (House Bill) HB1813.

    Other Interesting Tidbits:
Fines for violations can run you $500 to $2,000 for each individual firework.
  • Don't try to make your own fireworks - that not legal, and is probably not smart, either.
  • You can't ignite them near a church or a hospital (600feet).
  • You can't throw a 'lit' firework at a motor vehicle.
  • You can't light them near the place where you bought them (100 feet).
  • To purchase a firework - you must be older than 16 and sober!
