More People in Texas Finding Work

Texas' unemployment rate is going down again.

The Texas Workforce Commission released data Friday indicating the current rate is 5.4% in October for the state.

We added almost 57,000 non-agriculture jobs in the past month.

The biggest gains were in the professional and business service industry with almost 22,000 jobs, while trade, transportation and utilities added another 15,000.

Amarillo has the lowest rate in Texas at 3.3%, followed by Round Rock-Austin at 3.4% and Bryan-College Station at 3.7%.

Houston is at 5.4%, the state average. This time last year it was 8%.
