Local doctor tells KTRH she'll resign privileges following suspension

A local doctor who is for vaccine choice and against vaccine mandates is resigning her visiting privileges at Houston Methodist Hospital.

"I'll be sending in my letter of resignation this morning," Dr. Mary Bowden told Houston's Morning News.

Bowden says she is responding to the hospital suspending her privileges because of her vaccine beliefs.

"I don't think I am dangers," Bowden said. If you look at my website, there's nothing dangerous."

Bowden also told KTRH she found out about her suspension when the Houston Chronicle texted her on Friday.

"I got a text message asking me to confirm if my privileges had been suspended. No one from Methodist bothered to pick up the phone. I checked my email, and there was a message telling my my privileges had been suspended," Bowden explained.

Bowden, in practice since 2003, says she expected better from the hospital.

I've been very disappointed with how Methodist has handled this," Bowden stated.
