Catalytic converters lessen the amount of exhaust that comes out of your car. They can cost anywhere from $600 to $2500. They are also the loot for thieves because they contain precious metals like platinum, palladium or rhodium which are valuable to metal dealers.
At around 5:00 this morning (8-13-2021) two thieves tried to steal the catalytic converter off a car in Northwest Houston. The car owner confronted the thieves who came after him with a drill. That's when the owner shot at them multiple times. One of the thieves was wounded and was taken to an area hospital. The other is in police custody.
