Unresolved Firefighter Pay Parity Dispute Remains Unresolved

The unresolved issue over firefighter pay parity with police remains unresolved.

Houston city officials are disagreeing with a Texas court's decision on firefighter pay.

City Attorney Arturo Michel says 14th Court of Appeals judges were wrong to reverse a lower court's decision calling a 2018 pay-parity ordinance unconstitutional.

Michel says the ordinance requiring firefighters be paid the same as police officers would be devastating to the City.

Houston may appeal the decision. The Houston firefighters' union has hailed the ruling.
